OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE
OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE

Your Excellency,
I write this letter with utmost respect, unwavering loyalty, and absolute commitment to your leadership and the ideals you represent. As a loyal party member, I consider it necessary to draw your attention to the current political situation in Ido Local Government and its implications for the future of our party.

Your Excellency, we have always regarded you as a fair and just leader who governs without bias and gives every stakeholder a sense of belonging. It is in that spirit that we humbly appeal for your intervention.
The forthcoming Local Government election presents a unique opportunity to heal existing divisions and strengthen the unity of our party in Ido Local Government. This process should not be seen as a “winner-takes-all” arrangement that continues to favour a particular group. The same political bloc has already secured the Federal House of Representatives and State House of Assembly tickets, leaving many committed party members feeling sidelined.

It is also concerning that the group allegedly led by Alhaji Ayuba and Mr. Matthew Akano has reportedly mobilised some traditional rulers in Ido Local Government to endorse Barrister Olayemi Fasina, contrary to the wishes of the majority of loyal party members and leaders.
These developments have contributed to the growing frustration among party faithful, leading many to defect to other political parties. Fortunately, the emergence of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has given hope to many who believe that the era of political domination by a few individuals can be brought to an end.
Your Excellency, party members are anxiously awaiting the announcement of the chairmanship candidate. However, there are widespread concerns and rumours that Barrister Fasina may be imposed despite the overwhelming preference of the majority of stakeholders. Such a decision, if true, could further alienate dedicated members, particularly the youth who have consistently advocated for a transparent and inclusive process.
We therefore respectfully appeal that a neutral and widely acceptable candidate be considered for the chairmanship position. Such a decision would restore confidence in the party, promote unity, and strengthen our chances of victory in future elections.
Many members have lost confidence in the leadership style of Alhaji Ayuba and his associates, citing what they describe as an unfair system in the distribution of opportunities and the dividends of democracy. We sincerely believe that this approach has weakened the party at the grassroots.
Your Excellency, we respectfully urge you to consider other qualified and loyal aspirants instead of Barrister Fasina and Hon. Mabaje if the goal is to ensure lasting peace, unity, and electoral success in Ido Local Government. Many of these aspirants are your devoted supporters and mentees who remain committed to your vision of good governance.
This matter requires urgent attention. We humbly appeal to you to intervene before internal discontent further weakens the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections. It is time to put an end to leadership styles that many members perceive as overbearing and divisive.
We pray that Almighty God will continue to guide you with wisdom and grant you the grace to restore harmony and confidence within our party in Ido Local Government. We remain confident that, under your leadership, justice and fairness will prevail.
Please accept the assurances of our highest esteem and continued loyalty.
Yours faithfully,
Odedina Olayinka Emmanuel
Ido Local Government
