Adeojo Felicitates Muslims on Eid-el-Kabir, calls for compassion amid Ogbomoso school abduction tragedy

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has felicitated Muslim faithful on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging them to uphold the values of sacrifice, compassion, charity, and peaceful coexistence associated with the festival.
Adeojo gave the charge in a Sallah message made available to journalists on Tuesday through the Head of Information Unit of the local government, Folashade Oduola-Olatinwo.
The council chairman congratulated Muslims across Ido Local Government, Oyo State, and Nigeria for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir celebration, describing the season as a period of spiritual reflection, obedience to God, and renewed commitment to humanity.
He urged residents not to limit the celebration to festivities alone but to embrace the core lessons of Eid-el-Kabir by showing love, tolerance, selflessness, and support for one another, especially the less privileged.

Speaking on the recent security challenges in the state, Adeojo expressed sadness over the tragic incident in Oriire, Ogbomoso, involving the abduction of students and the killing of teachers, describing the development as painful and disturbing.
According to him, while many families are celebrating the festive season in joy, it is important to remember those currently passing through grief, fear, and uncertainty as a result of the unfortunate incident.
He called for collective prayers and stronger collaboration among government, security agencies, community leaders, and residents to ensure the protection of schools, students, teachers, and communities across the state.
The chairman further appealed to well-meaning individuals and groups to extend acts of charity and humanitarian support to vulnerable households during the festive period, noting that caring for others remains one of the fundamental teachings of Islam.
Adeojo also urged religious and civic leaders to continue promoting peace, unity, tolerance, and civic responsibility among residents in order to sustain harmony and development within the local government and beyond.
“I pray that Almighty Allah accepts our sacrifices and grants us many more opportunities to witness Sallah celebrations in peace, good health, and prosperity. May Allah also comfort families affected by recent tragedies and restore lasting peace to our communities,” he said.
He wished Muslims a peaceful, safe, and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The statement was signed by Folashade Oduola-Olatinwo, Head of Information Unit, Ido Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo State.
