2027: Oyo APC Unveils 50 Candidates, Seeks Unity for Polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has unveiled 50 candidates for the 2027 general elections, including its governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, as the party begins statewide mobilisation for the polls.
The candidates, unveiled on Friday at the Oyo State APC Secretariat, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, comprise one governorship candidate and running mate, three senatorial candidates, 14 House of Representatives candidates and 32 State House of Assembly candidates.

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate, will contest the governorship election with Hon. Soji Adedeji as his running mate.
Speaking at the event, Alli appealed to other aspirants who contested the governorship primary with him to put their differences aside and work for the success of the party.

He said: “Those who contested the governorship ticket alongside me should not be regarded as opponents but as brothers and critical stakeholders in the collective struggle for the party’s victory.”
The APC candidate warned that internal divisions could undermine the party’s chances in 2027, stressing the need for members to unite ahead of the election.
According to him, “A united APC would present a stronger front and improve the party’s chances of electoral victory across Oyo State.”
Alli also promised an inclusive administration if elected, identifying education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure as key areas of focus.
The three senatorial candidates unveiled were Senator Yunus Abiodun Akintunde for Oyo Central, Mrs Hannah Olawumi Ogunsean for Oyo North and Hon. Engr. Aderemi Abasi Oseni for Oyo South.
The party also presented candidates for all 14 House of Representatives constituencies and the 32 State House of Assembly constituencies in the state.
Speaking earlier, Oyo APC Chairman, Chief Adeyemo Alake, urged party leaders, candidates and members to close ranks and work collectively for victory in the 2027 elections.
Alake said the candidates unveiled had been affirmed by the party as its flag bearers, urging members to support them as the APC intensifies its mobilisation across the state.
The event was attended by party leaders and stakeholders, including former Deputy Governor, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja; wife of the late former governor, Mrs Oluwakemi Alao-Akala; former Oyo North Senator, Senator Hosea Ayoola Alleluya; members of the state executive, party chairmen from the 33 local government areas and other supporters.
