APC Members in Oluyole Protest, Demand Confirmation of Gbolagade as Primary Winner

Members of the All Progressives Congress APC in Oluyole Local Government have called on the Oyo State leadership of the party to affirm Hon. Abiodun Gbolagade as the winner of the recent primary election for Oluyole Federal Constituency.

The party members and stakeholders staged a peaceful protest on Tuesday at the APC State Secretariat, Oke Ado, Ibadan, to press their demand.

Addressing journalists during the protest, the demonstrators, including Mr. Awo Adeleke, Iyaloja of Olomi Market, and a state retiree, insisted that Gbolagade won the primary election and should be issued the party’s ticket for the House of Representatives election.

“We are here to appeal to the leadership of Oyo APC to strictly follow the outcome of the primary election which declared Abiodun Gbolagade the winner, and not Hon. Akande Sadipe,” one of the protesters said.
“For the past 8 years, Hon. Sadipe has neglected party members. That is why members have pitched their tents with Abiodun Gbolagade, who we believe can ensure victory for the party.”

At the party secretariat, APC Oyo State Chairman, Dr. Moses Alake Adeyemo, received the protesters and appealed to them to remain calm. He assured them that the party leadership would review their demands and take necessary steps to maintain peace and fairness within the party.

Dr. Adeyemo described Gbolagade as a committed party member who had “paid his dues” to the APC over the years.

Speaking at the secretariat, Hon. Abiodun Gbolagade said he had been financing party activities in Oluyole Local Government for the last 7 years. He claimed the primary election for Oluyole Federal Constituency was conducted successfully and that he was declared winner with over 2,000 votes, while the incumbent, Hon. Akande Sadipe, polled 36 votes.

Gbolagade urged the party leadership to strictly adhere to the results as announced, stressing that doing so would strengthen unity and improve the APC’s chances in the general election.

It would be recalled that Hon. Abiodun Gbolagade defeated the incumbent House of Representatives member, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, in the APC primary election for Oluyole Federal Constituency.
