OYRTMA announces traffic diversion for BOYE NATION/JAF concert ..two major routes to be closed as agency deploys personnel across Ibadan

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has announced traffic diversions and temporary road closures in Ibadan ahead of the BOYE NATION/JAF Movement Concert scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2026.

The measures are expected to affect motorists and commuters around the concert venue as the authority moves to manage the expected large turnout and prevent traffic congestion.

Chairman of OYRTMA, Major Adekoya Adesagba (rtd.), announced the arrangements on Saturday while briefing journalists at the authority’s headquarters, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

Adesagba said the Danax en route Sabo Recreation Junction and Queen Cinema en route Eko Tedo would be closed to vehicular traffic between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

He said, “The temporary traffic restrictions are necessary because of the expected influx of people to the concert. Our aim is to minimise congestion and ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and other road users.”

According to him, VIPs with valid event stickers or entry passes would park at Gate 2, while other guests would use the Recreation Field opposite Gate 3, Sabo, as the designated parking area.

He added that PTS buses would be stationed at the recreation field to transport attendees to the concert venue.

The chairman further disclosed that Gates 1 and 3 would be strictly for pedestrians, stressing that vehicles would not be allowed through the gates.

“Attendees are advised to use the designated parking facilities and avoid attempting to drive directly to the venue,” he said.

Adesagba urged motorists, commercial transport operators and residents in the affected areas to plan their journeys ahead and comply with traffic signs and directives from OYRTMA personnel.

He said the authority would deploy personnel to strategic locations to monitor traffic and respond to any challenges that might arise before, during and after the concert.

“We appeal to all motorists, transport operators and residents to cooperate with our personnel and other security agencies. Compliance with these arrangements will help ensure the safe and orderly movement of people and vehicles,” Adesagba said.

He assured residents that OYRTMA would continue to monitor the situation throughout the event and take necessary measures to maintain free flow of traffic.
