Gbenga Oyekola, Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly and representative of Atiba State Constituency, stands tall among this rare breed.

He has moved and supported motions on critical issues such as: Rehabilitation of major roads in Atiba Local Government, Extension of the Moniya train terminal to Oyo town, Elongation of retirement age for teachers and rehabilitation of schools, Addressing insecurity, student welfare, and the rising cases of violence in schools, Promoting Yoruba culture and language preservation, Ensuring fair treatment of motorists by road safety officials.

His active role on key committees — including Finance, Appropriation, Education, Public Accounts, and Solid Minerals has further cemented his reputation as a lawmaker committed to effective governance.

Beyond lawmaking, Oyekola has delivered tangible projects across his constituency:

Water Supply: Numerous wells and boreholes provided and rehabilitated in communities such as Asanmimi, Arikende, Oja Koso, Kasia Apata, Elegbo, Idi Ose Junction, and others — easing decades of water scarcity.

Empowerment: Over 50 Atiba indigenes have secured jobs in SUBEB, TESCOM, the Primary Health Care Board, and Special Education, while farmers have received inputs to boost food production.

Power Supply: Provision of electricity poles in Temidire, Erelu, Oloro and other communities to improve access to light and support artisans.

Education & Health: Establishment of a secondary school at Elegbo, scholarships for bright students, support for the General Hospital, and supply of learning materials.

Judiciary: Renovation of the Magistrate Court to enhance access to justice.

Youth & Sports: Donation of sportswear and promotion of grassroots sports to strengthen community spirit.

Hon. Oyekola’s philosophy is simple: leadership is about service.
