2027: Ex- UNILORIN SUG LEADER Salami Rafiu Passes PDP Screening for Afijio State Constituency, Hails Afijio Stakeholders

Salami Rafiu Tunde, born in Fiditi and former students’ union leader at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), successfully cleared the Peoples Democratic Party screening on Wednesday to contest the Afijio State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Salami Rafiu, of Oluwo’s compound in Temidire, Fiditi, said the decision followed extensive consultations with traditional rulers, party executives, youth groups, women’s associations, and community elders across Afijio Local Government Area.

“The feedback from our people was clear,” he said. “They want representation that understands local challenges and connects them to opportunities. I am stepping forward to serve the entire constituency.”

If elected, his priorities would include youth employment, support for small and medium enterprises, and closer engagement between elected officials and constituents.

He commended the PDP leadership for maintaining internal unity and stressed that active ward and local government structures are essential for expanding citizen participation.

Party members in Afijio cited his consistent support for community initiatives and urged the party to prioritize aspirants with a proven record of grassroots engagement.
