IDO CDC engages traditional rulers on strengthening community security

The Community Development Council (CDC), Ido Local Government, under the leadership of its Chairman, Engr. Lawal Tunde Salaudeen, has held a strategic meeting with traditional rulers in the local government area to discuss measures aimed at enhancing public safety and security.

The meeting, which took place at the Traditional Council Hall, brought together royal fathers, security stakeholders, and community leaders to deliberate on ways of improving security across communities within the local government.

Speaking during the meeting, Engr. Salaudeen appealed to the traditional rulers to support and expedite the approval process for the recruitment of additional vigilante personnel to strengthen grassroots security. He also called for increased support in providing operational equipment for local security operatives and suitable accommodation facilities where officers can report, coordinate, and strategize after security operations, particularly in boundary communities within Ido Local Government.

In his response, His Royal Majesty, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, assured stakeholders that efforts were already underway to facilitate the recruitment of more vigilante personnel to enhance security across the area.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Onido of Ido, HRH Oba Muritala Babalola, commended the commitment, sacrifices, and crucial contributions of vigilante groups and other local security personnel in maintaining peace and order within the communities.

Among the traditional rulers present were the Oloke of Okelade-Okin, HRH Oba Wahab Olabimiji; the Alawotan of Awotan, HRH Oba Dauda Omotosho; the Alapete of Apete, HRH Oba Bolarinwa Idowu; the Onisiba of Siba, HRH Oba Dauda Salami; and the Olomi of Omi, HRH Oba Kayode Olasunkanmi Adebayo.

Other attendees included the Oyo State Vigilante Coordinator, Commander Kunle Joseph; representatives of the Agbekoya Movement; the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN); CDC Ward Coordinators; and other key stakeholders.
