Eid-el-Adha: Akeem Salawu calls for unity, prayers over Oriire abduction tragedy

Akeem Salawu, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful and residents of the state on the occasion of the Eid-el-Adha celebration, while calling for prayers and unity following the recent tragedy in Oriire.
In an Eid Mubarak message made available to journalists, Salawu congratulated Muslims on witnessing another Eid-el-Adha celebration and prayed that the sacred season would bring peace, mercy, and renewed unity to Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
Akeem Salawu, however, noted that this year’s celebration is being observed amid sadness following the reported abduction of children in Oriire and the killing of a teacher during the unfortunate incident.
He expressed sympathy with the affected families, stating that his thoughts and prayers remain with the abducted children and their loved ones, while joining well-meaning Nigerians in praying for their safe return.

Salawu also extended condolences to the family, colleagues, students, and associates of the slain teacher, describing the incident as painful and heartbreaking.
According to him, the tragedy highlights the urgent need for stronger security measures and improved protection of lives and communities across the state.
“At a time like this, Eid calls us not only to celebrate but also to show compassion, stand together, and support one another,” he said.
He urged residents of Oyo State to remain united, uphold justice, and continue to pray for peace, healing, and security across the state.
Salawu further prayed that Almighty Allah would accept the sacrifices of Muslim faithful and bless Oyo State with lasting peace, protection, and prosperity.
He wished Muslims a peaceful, safe, and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Adha celebration.
