Oyo Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Firearms and Criminal Implements
The Oyo State Police Command has recorded another major operational success in its ongoing campaign against violent crime and criminal activities across the state.
As part of sustained proactive policing and crime prevention efforts, operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol attached to the Oyo/Ogbomoso axis intercepted a gold-coloured Nissan Maxima with registration number FKJ 666 KA during a routine patrol on 15 June 2026 at about 10:48 a.m.
The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Ibrahim Mohammed Dabban and Ndako Sulaimon, both residents of Sabo Area, Sagamu, Ogun State, were immediately taken into custody for further investigation.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of one live cartridge, one cutlass, two jackknives, one handcuff, assorted fetish items, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and a Soul-Safe security uniform, raising serious concerns about the suspects’ activities and intentions.
Following the discovery, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, psc, mnips, directed that the case be transferred to the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) for a comprehensive and intelligence-led investigation.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly made confessional statements linking themselves to armed robbery and other violent crimes. Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects admitted to being in unlawful possession of a pump-action rifle allegedly obtained from an individual based in Iperu, Ogun State.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence gathered, operatives extended their investigation to Ogun State, where a coordinated operation resulted in the recovery of two pump-action rifles, three live cartridges, and one expended cartridge from locations connected to the suspects and the alleged supplier.
Although the suspected firearms supplier remains at large, efforts have been intensified to track down and apprehend all individuals connected to the illegal possession, distribution, and circulation of firearms, as well as to dismantle any criminal network associated with the suspects.
The Command assures members of the public that investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the suspects’ criminal activities and ensure that all those found culpable are prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Oyo State Police Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and urges residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information that can aid crime-fighting efforts.
