Sallah: Ido LG Chairman Meets Security Agencies, Bans Vigil Services to Strengthen Security

Ahead of the forthcoming Sallah celebrations, the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has convened a security stakeholders’ meeting with heads of security agencies across the local government to review security preparedness and ensure a peaceful festive period.

Addressing the meeting, Hon. Adeojo commended security personnel for their dedication and efforts in maintaining peace within the local government. He urged them to intensify surveillance and security operations before, during, and after the Sallah celebrations.

“There must be peace before, during, and after Sallah. Our people deserve to enjoy the festive season in a safe and peaceful atmosphere,” the Chairman stated.

He also emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between security agencies and residents to guarantee adequate security across all communities in Ido Local Government.

Representatives of the security agencies appreciated the Chairman for his continued support, especially the recent distribution of solar-powered streetlights to security posts across the local government, noting that the initiative has significantly enhanced night-time visibility and improved community safety.

As part of measures to maintain law and order during the festive period, the Chairman announced a temporary ban on all vigil gatherings across Ido Local Government until further notice. Consequently, churches and mosques have been directed not to hold vigil services during this period.

Residents were also advised to remain security conscious, report suspicious movements or unfamiliar persons to the nearest security post, and avoid moving alone at night.

Other stakeholders present at the meeting included Barr. Olayemi Oluwashina, Vice Chairman/Political Head, Omi Apata LCDA; Alhaji Kamorudeen Gbadamosi, Secretary to the Local Government; Alhaji Sarafadeen Aminu, Head of Local Government Administration; Mr. Victor Adelu, Director of Administration and General Services; Sheikh Waliyullah Sanusi, Chief Imam of Ido Local Government; Pastor Sunday Egbedokun, CAN Chairman, Ido Local Government; as well as Divisional Police Officers and heads of other security agencies.
