President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and leadership of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions.
The appointments, announced on Monday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.
Among the prominent appointments is former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, who was named Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). He will serve alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors, while the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors complete the board.
President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the Commission.
Other members of the commission include Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna), Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, formerly Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
In other appointments, Dr Abuh Mohammed was named Director-General of the National Population Commission, while Dr Akinola Odeyemi became the Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET).
President Tinubu also appointed Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
For the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government chairman, was appointed Chief Executive Officer, succeeding the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
The President also inaugurated the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Also appointed was Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
In the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), was appointed Executive Director (Finance), replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue the Benue State governorship.
According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
