Senator Akintunde Pledges Five Buses to Boost City Boy Movement in Oyo

Senator Yunus Akintunde, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, has pledged five buses to support the activities of the City Boy Movement (CBM) in Oyo State as the group intensifies grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The pledge was made when members of the Oyo State chapter of the movement paid him a courtesy visit in Ibadan.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Publicity Director of the City Boy Movement, Gbenga Oyetola, who noted that the visit formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with political stakeholders and expand youth participation across the state.

According to the statement, Akintunde commended the movement for its role in grassroots engagement and youth mobilisation, adding that its activities have helped bridge the gap between political leaders and young people.

He described the movement as a growing political structure capable of driving participation and awareness at the grassroots level, while also appreciating members for their commitment and consistency in mobilising support across Oyo State.

In support of the group’s operations, the senator pledged five buses to ease transportation and coordination of activities across the state.

“Donating five buses addresses one of the essential needs of the movement. I am convinced that whatever investment is made in this cause is worthwhile,” Akintunde said.

“It is important to state that I am also a member of the City Boy Movement. Our mission is clear—to have a government that is reliable, responsible and responsive, which we have been experiencing.

“Most of the promises made by the current government are beginning to yield results, and we must encourage our people to do more. We must remain focused, recognise obstacles, and face challenges with determination. I am optimistic that we will achieve our desired results,” he added.

Speaking during the visit, the Director of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Femi Onireti, said the group had begun mobilisation efforts in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“We are ready to go all out to ensure President Tinubu returns to office in 2027. We are mobilising seriously and targeting one million votes in Oyo State,” Onireti said.

Also speaking, the Oyo State Coordinator of the movement, Chief Ahmed Ajibola, disclosed that the organisation currently has over 50,000 registered members across the state.

He added that the movement has established structures in all 351 wards in Oyo State, a development he said would further strengthen its grassroots reach and mobilisation capacity.

The leadership of the City Boy Movement also appreciated Senator Akintunde for his support, describing him as a strong advocate of youth-driven political participation and grassroots development.

Members of the group present at the visit reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the organisation’s activities and sustaining mobilisation efforts across Oyo State ahead of future political engagements.
