SDP Chairman confirm Mogaji Agboola as party candidate

The controversy over the governorship ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State has deepened, with one of the party’s prominent aspirants, Saheed Oladele, reportedly continuing to present himself as the party’s candidate ahead of the 2027 election.
However, the Oyo State Chairman of the SDP, Hon. Michael Okunlade, has disowned Oladele’s claim, insisting that he is not the party’s recognised governorship candidate.

Okunlade, in a brief telephone interview with the Nigerian Tribune, described Oladele’s continued claim to the ticket as unacceptable, warning that the party could take legal action against him if he persisted.
He said, “Saheed Oladele is not the candidate of the SDP. If he continues to parade himself as the governorship candidate of the party, we will have no choice than to make him face the law.”

The chairman urged members of the public and political observers seeking clarification on the matter to verify the candidate recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“Let the public go to the INEC portal and verify who the candidate of the SDP is. That is the best way to establish the truth,” Okunlade said.
The development has further heightened an already brewing dispute over the SDP governorship ticket in the state.
Okunlade maintained that the party’s position could be independently verified through the electoral commission’s official records.
