Oyo Police refute claims on questioning of Oriire Traditional ruler

The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that High Chief Tajudeen Abioye, the Elesinele of Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area, was invited for questioning in connection with the ongoing investigation into the abduction of teachers and schoolchildren in the community.

In a statement issued by the Command, police authorities categorically denied inviting the traditional ruler for questioning at any stage of the investigation.

According to the Command, the report is “false, unfounded, and misleading,” stressing that no such invitation was extended to High Chief Abioye regarding the case.

The police further alleged that the publication forms part of a deliberate misinformation campaign by criminal elements seeking to create division, generate unnecessary tension, and undermine ongoing security operations aimed at rescuing the abducted victims and apprehending those responsible for the crime.

The Command urged members of the public to disregard the report and avoid sharing unverified information capable of jeopardizing ongoing investigations and security efforts.

Reaffirming its commitment to securing the release of the abducted victims, the Oyo State Police Command said it remains focused on working closely with relevant stakeholders and other security agencies to ensure the success of rescue operations.

Residents were also encouraged to support law enforcement efforts by providing credible and timely information through appropriate channels.
