Oyo police confirm the abduction of Adelabu’s sister and children, says investigation ongoing

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.
The police equally assured that an intensive rescue operation is already underway to secure their freedom and arrest the perpetrators.
The victims, identified as Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke and her twin sons, were reportedly abducted by suspected gunmen in Ibadan on Wednesday morning, triggering swift intervention by security agencies.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the police disclosed that investigations commenced immediately after the incident was reported.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, upon receiving information about the abduction, directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Challenge Division, alongside tactical units, to proceed to the scene of the incident.
The police said the victim’s vehicle had since been recovered, while detectives and other operatives had launched intensive investigations aimed at tracking down the kidnappers and rescuing the victims unharmed.
“The Oyo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the abduction of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke and her twin sons, who were reportedly abducted earlier today.
“Following the report of the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Challenge Division, alongside other tactical teams, to proceed to the scene where the victim’s vehicle was recovered and commence intensive investigations,” the statement read.
The Command assured residents that all necessary resources and operational assets had been deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and bring those responsible to justice.
It further stated that ongoing investigations were focused on unraveling the circumstances surrounding the abduction and identifying all individuals connected with the crime.
The police appealed to members of the public to remain calm and support security efforts by volunteering credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
“The Command urges residents to remain calm, law-abiding and cooperative with the Police by providing any useful information that may assist ongoing investigations,” the statement added.
The police confirmation comes shortly after the Adelabu family announced that Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted while she was taking the children to school in Ibadan on Wednesday morning.
The family had earlier disclosed that security agencies were promptly notified and expressed confidence in ongoing efforts to secure the victims’ safe release, while appealing to the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could jeopardise rescue operations.
