Oyo 3rd Youth Parliament: 108 Candidates Shortlisted from 559 Applicants

The Oyo State Youth Parliament Assembly Committee inline with Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s youth development agenda, has shortlisted 108 candidates from a total of 559 applicants for the next phase of its thorough screening/interview process ahead of the inauguration of the 3rd Oyo Youth Parliament Assembly.

According to the committee during their meeting today 7th May, 2026, the shortlisted candidates emerged after a thorough review of applications submitted by young people across the state, with an emphasis placed on eligibility requirements, leadership potential, handwritten application letters, credentials, and commitment to youth development.

The committee noted that the selection process was designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and inclusiveness, while providing equal opportunities for qualified youths from different local government areas of the State to participate in governance and policymaking.

It explained that the next phase of the exercise will involve screening and further assessments aimed at identifying the most suitable candidates who will eventually represent their respective constituencies in the youth parliament.

Speaking on the development, the selection committee, chaired by Mr. Sangogade Olusumbo the Coordinating Director of the Agency for Youth Development reaffirmed the commitment of the Agency to transparency, fairness, justice, and equity. This will enable raising a new generation of youth leaders who are passionate about public service, advocacy, and community development.

The Oyo Youth Parliament Assembly serves as a platform created to empower young people, amplify their voices in governance, and equip them with legislative experience while contributing to policies that affect youths in the State.

Applicants who made the shortlist are expected to be on the look out for further information regarding the date, venue, and requirements for the next phase of the selection process.
