Nigeria @ 66: Adeojo preaches hope, unity, peace

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Oyo State, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has felicitated with residents of the local government and Nigerians at large on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence anniversary.
Adeojo, in his Independence Day message, described October 1 as a significant date in the history of Nigeria, saying the occasion offered citizens an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices, courage and unity of the country’s founding fathers.

He said that despite the challenges confronting the nation, Nigerians had every reason to celebrate, given the resilience, industriousness and determination of the people, as well as the progress recorded since independence.
The council chairman said the anniversary should also serve as a period for renewed commitment to peace, unity and national development.

“On this special day, I, on behalf of the Vice Chairman, legislative arm of the LG, the Secretary to the LG, Chief of Staff and the entire management team of Ido Local Government, congratulate every son and daughter of Ido Local Government, from Wards 1-10, Oyo State and indeed all Nigerians.
“This is a day of hope and reflection. We must continue to believe in the greatness of our nation and work together for peace, unity and development,” Adeojo stated.
He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful about the future of the country, stressing that the challenges confronting the nation could be overcome through collective efforts, peaceful coexistence and responsible leadership.
Adeojo also reassured residents of Ido Local Government of his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance and grassroots development.
According to him, his administration would continue to prioritise infrastructural development, youth empowerment and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of women and widows across the local government.
He said the administration’s programmes were being implemented in line with the Omituntun 2.0 sustainable development agenda of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The council boss further called on residents to maintain peace and shun acts capable of undermining the security and development of the local government and the state.
He urged the people to continue to pray for the peace, security and prosperity of Oyo State and Nigeria, saying unity remained essential to the country’s progress.
Adeojo prayed for continued unity among Nigerians and greater development and prosperity for the country as it marks 66 years of independence.
