Ido LG Distributes Solar Street Lights to 10 Wards to Boost Security, Infrastructure …tasks communities on maintenance, strategic installation

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has distributed solar-powered street lights to the 10 political wards in the council area as part of efforts to improve security and expand infrastructure at the grassroots.

The distribution ceremony, held at the Ido Local Government Secretariat, attracted councillors, supervisors, party leaders, chairmen of Community Development Committees (CDCs) and Community Development Associations (CDAs), youth leaders and other stakeholders from across the 10 wards.

Speaking at the event, Adeojo said the initiative was in fulfilment of his administration’s commitment to making Ido Local Government safer, brighter and more economically vibrant through improved public lighting.

According to him, the installation of the solar-powered street lights will strengthen security, support commercial activities at night and improve the quality of life of residents.

“Light is life and light is security. These solar lights will help reduce crime, make our roads and markets safer, and allow our traders and artisans to extend their business hours. We are taking development to every ward without discrimination,” he said.

The council chairman urged councillors and executives of the CDCs in the affected wards to ensure proper installation and maintenance of the facilities, stressing that they should be sited at strategic locations such as markets, schools, primary healthcare centres and major road junctions to maximise their impact.

Some community leaders and beneficiaries commended the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that would improve public lighting, enhance security and reduce electricity costs in their communities.

Adeojo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, improved security, youth empowerment and the execution of projects aimed at improving the welfare and socio-economic well-being of residents across Ido Local Government.
