Ido LG Chairman donates operational items to security agencies, holds peace meeting
Police, DSS, Operation Burst receive support as council seeks stronger security collaboration
The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, has donated cash and operational items to security agencies in the council area as part of efforts to strengthen security and enhance the protection of lives and property.
The donations were made on Thursday during a Peace and Security Meeting convened by the chairman, which brought together heads of security agencies and other key stakeholders to review the security situation in the local government and explore ways of improving collaboration.
Among the items donated were a cash support of ₦200,000 to the Ile-Ido Police Division for an ongoing project, four tyres for Operation Burst, two tyres and a car battery for the Apete Police Division, a refrigerator for the Police Area Command and an electric water pump for the Department of State Services (DSS).
Adeojo said the meeting formed part of the council’s commitment to promoting peace, security and sustainable community development, stressing that security remains a shared responsibility requiring continuous cooperation among government, security agencies and residents.
According to him, providing logistical support to security agencies will enhance their operational capacity and improve their ability to respond effectively to security challenges within the local government.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the security agencies commended the council chairman for the intervention, describing the donations as timely and a reflection of his commitment to the welfare of security personnel.
They pledged to sustain collaboration with the local government in ensuring a peaceful and secure environment across Ido Local Government Area.
Among those who attended the meeting were the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Kamorudeen Gbadamosi; the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Sarafadeen Aminu; the Director of Administration and General Services, Mr. Victor Adelu; the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ido Local Government Chapter, Pastor Sunday Egbedokun, and other stakeholders.
