Adeojo allocates land to CDC, strengthens grassroots development in Ido

The Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, has commissioned a plot of land allocated to the Community Development Commission (CDC) at the council secretariat, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots participation and community development.

The commissioning, held at the Ido Local Government Council Secretariat, was attended by the CDC Chairman, Engr. Tunde Salaudeen; the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Aminu Sarafadeen; the Local Government Secretary, Alhaji Kamorudeen Gbadamosi; and other political functionaries.

Also present was Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji, a candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the Ido/Ibarapa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the event, Adeojo said the allocation reflected his administration’s commitment to strengthening community-based institutions and creating an enabling environment for development at the grassroots.

He said, “The allocation of this land to the Community Development Commission demonstrates our commitment to grassroots development and our belief that communities must be actively involved in decisions and initiatives that affect their welfare.

“We recognise the important role the CDC plays in connecting the government with the people. Providing the commission with a designated space will help strengthen its activities and improve its capacity to serve communities across Ido Local Government Area.”

The chairman added that his administration would continue to support initiatives that promote community participation, collaboration and sustainable development.

The land allocation is expected to provide the CDC with a permanent base for its operations and a platform for coordinating programmes designed to address the needs of communities within the local government area.

In his remarks, the CDC Chairman, Engr. Salaudeen, was expected to highlight the importance of the allocation to the commission’s activities and its efforts to promote community development.

The presence of council officials and political stakeholders at the event also underscored the importance of cooperation between government institutions and community-based organisations in advancing development at the grassroots.

The initiative marks another step towards strengthening the institutional capacity of the Community Development Commission and improving engagement between the local government and the communities it serves.
