Adekanmbi felicitates Nigerians, calls for unity, national renewal at 66

The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has felicitated Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence anniversary, urging citizens to remain united and committed to building a better nation.

Adekanmbi, in a statement issued on Wednesday to mark the anniversary, commended Nigerians for their resilience, perseverance and determination in the face of the various socio-economic challenges confronting the country.

He noted that despite the difficulties, Nigerians had continued to demonstrate faith in the unity and indivisibility of the country, stressing that such commitment remained critical to the nation’s development.

Adekanmbi said Nigeria had recorded significant achievements in the 66 years since independence, urging citizens to protect the gains made while working collectively to address the challenges confronting the nation.

He said, “I sincerely appreciate Nigerians for standing firm and believing in the unity of our country, refusing to allow our diversity to hinder our collective resolve to develop the great nation bequeathed to us by our founding fathers.”

According to him, the survival and development of the country had been sustained by the contributions of people across different sections of society, including youths, elders, men and women.

He said the collective efforts of Nigerians must be encouraged and strengthened if the country was to reclaim its position as the “giant of Africa.”

The APM candidate also acknowledged the economic hardship being experienced by Nigerians, particularly the rising cost of food, transportation and other essential commodities.

He attributed the hardship to some policy decisions at the federal level, while expressing sympathy with citizens struggling to cope with the prevailing economic realities.

“The hardship is evident in the rising cost of food, transportation, and other basic necessities. I empathize deeply with Nigerians and affirm that there is hope for a new and better Nigeria,” he said.

Adekanmbi, however, urged Nigerians not to lose hope, saying the current difficulties should strengthen rather than weaken the resolve to build a country that would provide better opportunities for present and future generations.

He called on citizens to participate actively and peacefully in the democratic process, urging them to make informed choices based on the vision, competence and values presented by political parties and candidates.

The APM governorship candidate further appealed to the people of Oyo State to continue to support the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, saying the administration’s projects and programmes had contributed to the development of the state.

He said the state’s development efforts had helped to reinforce its identity as the Pacesetter State.

“As the nation prepares for another round of elections next year, and in line with the articulated programmes of the APM, I urge the people to support and vote for all candidates of our great party to ensure the sustainability of the development Oyo State has witnessed in the last seven years,” Adekanmbi said.

He congratulated Nigerians once again on the 66th anniversary of the country’s independence, urging citizens to remain committed to peace, unity, democratic participation and national development.

The statement was signed by Yinka Oladoyinbo, Director of Communication and Spokesperson, Oyo State APM Governorship Campaign Council.
