Eleka congratulates Atiku on ADC Presidential ticket, hails transparent primary

Former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, has congratulated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following what he described as a peaceful and transparent primary election.
Atiku Abubakar reportedly polled 1,846,370 votes to clinch the ticket, while former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, came second with 504,117 votes. Hayatu-Deen finished in third place with 177,120 votes.
Prof. Eleka, in his reaction shortly after the announcement, said the outcome was a positive step for Nigeria’s democratic process, adding that the ADC has now positioned itself as a strong opposition party capable of challenging the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
He congratulated Atiku, describing him as a leader who has remained committed to democratic principles and the fight against what he termed efforts to drift Nigeria into a one-party system.

“I want to congratulate our leader, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on his emergence as the party’s presidential candidate and for standing firmly against attempts to turn Nigeria into a one-party state,” he said.
Eleka also stated that despite what he described as attempts by both internal and external forces to destabilise the party, the ADC had continued to grow stronger and more united.
He added that Atiku’s long-standing political experience since 1999, as well as his background as a businessman, places him in a strong position ahead of the presidential contest.
The former deputy governor further urged other aspirants and supporters to rally behind the party, noting that Nigeria’s current political situation requires experienced and unifying leadership.
He called on Nigerians to support the ADC’s mission, stressing that the country stands at a critical crossroads that demands competent and visionary leadership.
