Eid-el-Kabir: Adeojo Felicitates Muslims, Seeks Prayers for Abducted Victims in Oriire

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has congratulated Muslim faithful across Ido Local Government and Oyo State on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging them to uphold the values and teachings associated with the holy festival.
In a statement issued on Wednesday through the Head of Information Unit of the council, Folashade Oduola-Olatinwo, Adeojo described Eid-el-Kabir as a season of sacrifice, spiritual renewal, compassion, and gratitude to Almighty Allah.
The council chairman congratulated Muslim families, community leaders, political stakeholders, and residents for witnessing another Sallah celebration and called on them to reflect the true essence of the festival in their daily lives.
He urged Muslims not to focus solely on the festivities and sacrifices associated with the celebration, but to embrace the core teachings of Sallah, including self-discipline, charity, communal support, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

Adeojo also appealed to Muslim faithful to use the festive period to offer prayers for the safe return of the abducted victims in Oriire, describing the incident as painful and concerning.
According to him, the period calls for collective prayers, unity, and support for families currently facing difficult moments as a result of insecurity and other challenges confronting the society.
The chairman further encouraged residents to extend acts of kindness and zakat to vulnerable households during the celebration, noting that caring for the needy remains one of the fundamental principles of Islam.
He also charged religious and civic leaders to continue promoting peace, tolerance, and civic responsibility within communities in order to strengthen unity and social harmony across the local government area.
Praying for continued peace and prosperity, Adeojo said he hoped Nigerians would witness many more Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in good health and tranquility.
“I pray that we witness many more Sallah celebrations in good health and peace on the land of the living,” he said, while wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyful, and spiritually fulfilling celebration.
The statement was signed by Folashade Oduola-Olatinwo, Head of Information Unit, Ido Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo State.
