Group Warns Fayose agents, accuses PDP organizing secretary Stephen Olaniyi of working against Ibadan interests

The Ibadan Solidarity Group has accused Oyo State PDP Organizing Secretary Stephen Olaniyi of undermining Ibadan interests in the recent party primary, alleging he acted in support of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The group said Olaniyi, an Ekiti indigene, backed Fayose against local interests. “This is Ibadan, not Ekiti,” the group stated.

Com. Abimbola, Chairman of the group, questioned the outcome of the primary and warned alleged Fayose agents to desist from actions that could create problems for themselves. “How can someone who didn’t win a single ward, and who doesn’t know his ward chairman or party members in his local government, claim victory over a candidate who won 24 wards?” Abimbola said.

The group called on the PDP National leadership to investigate the conduct of the primary, stating that the role of organizing secretary requires neutrality. It added that Ibadan would not tolerate interference in its political affairs, citing the Yoruba saying, _“IJA IGBORO LARUN IBADAN.”_
