Ilana Mekunu calls for unity and equality for all in Oyo State as new month begins

As residents of Oyo State usher in the month of May, a prominent stakeholder, Akeem Salawu, popularly known as Ilana Mekunu, has extended warm greetings to citizens while calling for renewed commitment to unity, fairness, and inclusive governance.
In a statement released to mark the new month, Salawu expressed optimism that May would usher in hope, progress, and strengthened cohesion across the state. He emphasized the need for collective responsibility among citizens and leaders alike to foster sustainable development.
Describing Oyo State as a shared heritage, Salawu stressed that all zones—including Ibadan, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, Ibarapa, and Oyo—must be treated with fairness and inclusiveness in governance. According to him, meaningful development can only be achieved when no region feels marginalized and every voice is duly represented.
“This season calls for reflection and responsibility,” he stated. “True development can only thrive where there is equity, inclusion, and political balance.”

Salawu further urged leaders to ensure that opportunities and resources are distributed fairly, noting that such an approach would enhance peace, build public trust, and accelerate progress across the state.
He concluded by encouraging residents to rise above divisions and work collectively towards a more balanced, united, and prosperous Oyo State.
The statement ended with a goodwill message wishing all citizens a happy and fulfilling new month.
