Unibadan Marathon 2025: Running for Freedom and Purpose

The spirit of unity and purpose will take center stage at the University of Ibadan on October 16, 2025, as students, staff, and members of the public gather for the much-anticipated Unibadan Marathon 2025.

Far beyond a test of endurance, the marathon has been described as a movement for freedom, empowerment, and collective progress. It aims to remind participants that “freedom starts with movement” — every step symbolizing the desire to live freely, speak boldly, and build a better Nigeria.

This year’s edition is proudly sponsored by the Apero Mekunu Movement, which has announced free registration for all participants. According to the organizers, this gesture underscores the Movement’s commitment to true freedom, equality, and empowerment across all levels of society.

“By being part of this event, we’re showing that the call for liberty is not just a slogan but a shared responsibility,” the statement read.

At the University of Ibadan, the marathon represents more than fitness or competition — it’s a rallying point for social consciousness and unity of purpose. Participants are encouraged to join the run, embrace the cause, and experience the power of movement as a symbol of progress.

Join the run. Feel the purpose. Together, we are running for freedom.
