Oyo State Agency for Youth Development Named “Agency of the Year”

The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, under the visionary leadership of Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, has been honored with the prestigious “Agency of the Year” award at the 2025 Every Youth Award ceremony held over the weekend in Ibadan.

This coveted recognition celebrates outstanding performance in the public sector and exceptional contributions to youth empowerment. It was awarded in acknowledgment of the agency’s trailblazing efforts in youth-centric initiatives, innovation, and policy implementation since Hon. Falana assumed office on May 20th, 2024.

In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Adebowale expressed profound gratitude to the award organizers and reiterated the agency’s unwavering commitment to empowering the youth of Oyo State.

“This award is not just a recognition of our efforts, but a call to do even more for the vibrant youth of our dear state by the father of the youth, Engr. ’Seyi Makinde. We are deeply honored and inspired to continue our mission with greater vigor,” he stated.

Hon. Falana also dedicated the Excellence Award to the sustainable development vision of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for fostering an enabling environment that allows the youth to thrive across all sectors and for promoting a culture of good governance in the state.

Since taking office, the agency has launched a suite of impactful initiatives, including:
• Vocational training programs targeting youth across rural and urban areas.
• Startup incubation hubs to support young entrepreneurs.
• Mental health awareness campaigns to promote emotional well-being.
• Digital skills acquisition programs to enhance employability in the tech-driven economy.
• Strategic partnerships, including with SMEDAN, to strengthen Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and stimulate startup growth in the Pacesetter State.

These programs have directly benefited thousands of youths, earning widespread commendation from development partners, civil society organizations, and community stakeholders.

The recognition as “Agency of the Year” underscores the agency’s dedication, innovation, and results-driven approach, serving as a model for youth development across Nigeria.
