NLC Stresses The Participation Of Women in Elective Positions.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring more women take up elective positions, especially within the labour movement.
Speaking at the gathering in Ibadan, Oyo State, where the women wing election held, Comrade Kayode Martins, Chairman of the NLC in Oyo state, expressed delight that more women are stepping forward to contest for leadership roles, particularly within the Congress. He further urged government at all levels to make the education of women and the girl child a priority, adding that empowerment of the female gender is empowering the nation at large.
Six members were elected at the election which the Nigerian Labour Congress, women wing described as free and fair. The newly elected Chairperson of the NLC Women’s Wing, Oyo state, Comrade Bolanle Olumide-Lawal encouraged women to remain steadfast in their political ambitions, noting that as the world continues to evolve, more opportunities are opening up for women in elective offices.
Participation at the event was majorly physical where the women coordinated themselves well and elected new executive to run the affairs of the congress in Oyo state, the women displayed that they were fully ready for elective positions and that they were ready to support each other,
In the same vein, Comrade Bayo Titilola-Sodo, Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Labour Matters, emphasized that the union fully supports women’s involvement in politics, adding that increased female representation will strengthen democratic governance.
