Makinde Has Transformed Oyo’s Entertainment Scene — Stakeholders Hail Success of Davido’s 5ive Concert

The echoes of the Davido 5ive Concert still reverberate across Ibadan and beyond, as stakeholders, fans, and industry observers describe it as one of the most successful entertainment events ever hosted in Oyo State.

Powered by the Oyo State Government through the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, the landmark event marked a new chapter in the state’s creative and cultural renaissance. Thousands of fans thronged the historic Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, turning the ancient city into a vibrant hub of music, youth energy, and Afrobeats excellence.

Stakeholders have attributed the success of the concert to the visionary leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, whose administration continues to invest in youth empowerment and creative industries as key drivers of the state’s economy.
According to industry players, the event underscored the governor’s commitment to repositioning Oyo as a regional leader in tourism, entertainment, and innovation.
“Governor Makinde has redefined how government supports youth creativity and entertainment,” said one industry consultant. “What we witnessed in Ibadan shows that Oyo is ready to host events of international standard.”
Special commendation was also given to Prince Falana Adebayo Adebowale, Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, for his coordination and leadership in delivering a well-organized and safe concert. Under his supervision, the Don Tee-led committee managed logistics, stage setup, and crowd control with precision and professionalism.

Security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, and the FRSC, also received accolades for ensuring peace and safety throughout the night.
“It was impressive to see how well-managed and secure the environment was,” noted a security analyst. “This shows that Oyo can safely host large-scale international entertainment events.”
For many attendees, the concert was not just about the music but also about economic empowerment and pride in Oyo’s emerging entertainment reputation.
“I’ve attended concerts in Lagos, but this one was different,” said Rukayat Adedayo, a fan from Abeokuta. “Ibadan has proven it can host shows that rival any city in Nigeria.”
Another attendee, Bamidele Johnson from Osogbo, shared his excitement: “The coordination, sound, and security were top-notch. I’m proud of Oyo State.”
A youth entrepreneur who participated in the event praised the initiative for creating opportunities across multiple sectors. “Beyond the fun, this concert provided real economic impact — from vendors to sound engineers and creative talents. Governor Makinde has done something remarkable for the entertainment ecosystem.”
The Davido 5ive Concert united thousands of youths, strengthened Oyo’s creative economy, and reinforced Ibadan’s growing status as the cultural capital of Southwest Nigeria.
As the lights dim and the music fades, one message resounds clearly — Oyo State has found its rhythm. Under Governor Makinde’s leadership and with the strategic efforts of Prince Falana and his team, the state has struck the perfect harmony between governance, creativity, and youth development.
