KAP Film Village Trainee Visits Oyo Youth Agency, Commends Government’s Support for Creative Empowerment

A trainee from the prestigious KAP Film and Television Academy, one of Nigeria’s leading creative training institutions founded by acclaimed filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, has paid a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development to express heartfelt appreciation for the government’s sustained efforts in promoting youth empowerment and advancing the creative industry.

It will be recalled that the Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, had sponsored a group of talented youths to undergo intensive training at the KAP Film and Television Academy. The initiative aims to harness the vast potential within the entertainment industry, equipping young creatives with practical skills that can drive both personal growth and economic development across the state.

During the visit, the trainee commended the agency for facilitating access to training opportunities that have helped young people in Oyo State acquire practical skills in film production, cinematography, acting, script writing, directing, make-up artist, and creative entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the agency’s headquarters in Ibadan, the trainee described the KAP Film Village programme as a transformative experience, emphasizing how the initiative has provided exposure to modern filmmaking techniques and mentorship from industry experts.

Further speaking on what was learned so far, on behalf of the teeming youth Vincent Temitayo, Adeoti Semiu Olanrewaju, Fatai Adebayo and others stated that “we’re deeply grateful to the Oyo State Government and the Agency for Youth Development for believing in the potential of young creatives like us.
“The training at KAP Film Village has opened our eyes to new possibilities, and we’re determined to contribute positively to the state’s growing creative economy,” the trainee stated.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, applauded the trainee for the visit.
It reaffirmed the state government’s under the leadership of His Excellency Engr ‘Seyi Makinde commitment to supporting youth-focused programmes across sectors.
He noted that collaborating with institutions like KAP Film Village aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision of empowering young people through education, creativity, and innovation.
Adebowale added that the agency will continue to explore partnerships that prepare youths for self-reliance and position Oyo State as a hub for the Nigerian creative industry.
The visit ended with an interactive session, where ideas were shared on how the agency could further engage beneficiaries of similar training programmes to foster collaboration with professionals in the profession and community impact to open doors for more opportunities to explore.
