Ido PDP Welcomes Back Defectors, Reaffirms Commitment to Unity and Party Rebuilding

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State has formally welcomed back some of its former members who recently returned to the party, pledging renewed loyalty and commitment to its collective growth and stability.

The event, which took place at the Ido Local Government Secretariat, was attended by key party stakeholders, ward chairmen, and youth leaders, reflecting the party’s renewed strength and unity at the grassroots level.

Addressing the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, expressed delight over the return of the defectors and urged all members to remain steadfast and united in their resolve to rebuild the PDP into a more formidable political force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He noted that unity and discipline remain the foundation of the party’s progress, stressing that internal cooperation and genuine reconciliation among members would strengthen the PDP’s structure across the local government.

“Our doors are open to everyone who believes in the ideals of the PDP. What binds us together is stronger than what divides us. We must stay focused, loyal, and committed to our shared vision of progress for Ido Local Government and Oyo State as a whole,” Hon. Adeojo said.

Leading the returnees, Prince Taiwo Ishola explained that their decision to return to the PDP was guided by reflection, consultations, and the recognition that the “Oyo n pe o” movement lacked structure and long-term vision in Ido Local Government.

“There is no Oyo n pe o movement in Ido Local Government,” Prince Ishola declared confidently. “We have come back home to our great party, the PDP, to work tirelessly and in full support of PSM 2027, under the capable leadership of Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo.”

He emphasized that their return was not about personal interest but about collective responsibility to the people, adding that only unity and teamwork could guarantee political success and sustainable development.

In his remarks, the PDP Chairman in Ido Local Government, Hon. Musibau Emiola (popularly known as Emma), welcomed the returnees warmly and commended their courage to retrace their steps. He urged both old and returning members to prioritize loyalty, mutual respect, and transparency in all party affairs.

“The PDP remains a big family where everyone has a place. We must continue to promote unity and discipline while discouraging any form of division or disloyalty. If you notice any irregularity, report it through the proper channels rather than engaging in acts that can weaken our bond,” Hon. Emiola said.

The meeting ended on a high note, with chants of solidarity and renewed enthusiasm as party members expressed confidence in the leadership of Hon. Adeojo and the readiness of the PDP in Ido to deliver on its political and developmental promises.

Stakeholders described the defection reversal as a major political boost for the party and a sign of the people’s growing confidence in the current administration’s inclusive and people-oriented governance style.
