Ido Local Government Tackles Growing Security Concerns in Community Meeting

Community leaders and security agencies convened at a recent meeting in the Ido Local Government Area to address a series of pressing security issues, ranging from robberies and land disputes to conflicts between farmers and herders. The gathering, led by the Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, focused on collaborative efforts to enhance safety and stability within the community.

The meeting’s discussions highlighted several ongoing challenges. Reports from the police and other security forces detailed multiple incidents, including:

* Robberies and Cultism: Various robbery cases were reported, including an ongoing investigation into a phone robbery in the Kuola Police Division. A cult clash in Apete also led to a shooting, though suspects fled before police could make arrests. Additionally, a late-night robbery was reported where jewelry was stolen from individuals leaving a club.
Other topics discussed included a resolved land dispute in Ologuneru, an averted kidnapping, and the neutralization of a religious dispute at a mosque in Alaaka. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) also reported instances of farm invasions and vehicle part theft.
