Ibadan 2025: Oyo PMS Applauds Makinde’s New Bus Terminal, Announces Temporary Transport Restrictions Ahead of PDP Convention

The Oyo State Park Management System (PMS), led by Alhaji Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa (popularly known as Tommy), has lauded Governor ’Seyi Makinde for the successful commissioning of the Iwo Road Bus Terminal—describing the project as a significant milestone in the state’s transportation development and urban renewal initiatives.

The Iwo Road Terminal, inaugurated by former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, completes the trio of modern bus terminals delivered by the Makinde administration, following earlier commissions of the Ojoo and Challenge Terminals.

Speaking in Ibadan on Friday, the PMS management stated that the newly completed facilities will improve traffic coordination, enhance commuter safety, and further strengthen the state government’s drive to modernize public transportation.

As part of preparations for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention scheduled to take place in Ibadan, the PMS also announced temporary transport restrictions across parts of the state capital.

The directive affects Micra taxis, commercial tricycles (Keke), and inter-state buses operating within the city and around designated routes near the convention venue. According to the PMS, the measure is intended to ensure smooth traffic flow, heightened security, and orderly movement of delegates and visitors expected at the high-profile political event.

The agency stressed that the restrictions are temporary and that normal transport operations will resume immediately after the convention.

The PMS management appealed to transport operators and commuters to comply with the arrangement, describing it as necessary for maintaining order and projecting Oyo State’s readiness to host national events.

Alhaji Omolewa further disclosed that PMS personnel will be fully on ground at the convention venue from Saturday, November 15, through Sunday, November 16, 2025, to ensure a hitch-free exercise and to showcase the hospitality for which Ibadan is known.

Governor Makinde’s administration continues to prioritize modern transport infrastructure as a key component of its economic development and urban expansion agenda. The new terminals are expected to serve as major hubs for regulated, efficient, and integrated transport services across the state.
