Honorable Folajimi Oyekunle Casts His Vote as Oyo State Come Out To Vote At Bye Election in Ward 4

Honorable Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DON, recently exercised his voting rights in Ward 4 of Atanda area in Oyo State. During his visit to multiple polling units, including ward 10 unit 27, unit 6, unit 28, unit 29, and ward 4 unit 6, he observed varying voter turnouts across different areas.

Reports indicate that the turnout of voters in Bodija area was notably low compared to previous elections, signaling a potential shift in voter engagement. Conversely, the turnout in Gate area was reported to be significantly high, reflecting heightened civic participation.

According to data released by the Oyo State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the upcoming bye election is slated to be conducted across 12 wards, with 512 polling units expected to accommodate 217,980 voters. However, out of the 272,196 registered voters, a significant number of 54,216 individuals have yet to collect their permanent voter cards, which may impact overall voter turnout.

To ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the bye election, INEC has initiated comprehensive training sessions for 2,152 adhoc staff members, including corps members and commission personnel. These training sessions commenced at the end of July and are set to conclude on the 13th of August, as scheduled by the Commission.

As the preparations for the election intensify, stakeholders are reminded of the importance of adhering to the electoral rules and regulations to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
