Five S-West govs currrently hold emergency security meeting in Ibadan

Governors of the South-West states have converged on Ibadan for an emergency, previously unscheduled meeting to discuss urgent regional issues, with security topping the agenda.

The closed-door session, taking place at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, is being hosted by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

All six governors from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti were expected at the summit.

Although official details remain sketchy, sources say the meeting was hastily convened to address escalating security concerns, accelerate infrastructural development, and deepen regional cooperation under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).

The governors are also reviewing ongoing joint security efforts, including the operations of the Amotekun Corps, with a focus on strengthening its capacity in response to emerging threats.

As of the time of filing this report, Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and the host governor, Seyi Makinde, are already in session behind closed doors, while Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is expected to join shortly.

More details to follow.
