Christmas: Akeem Salawu Urges Love, Service, Inclusive Leadership

A chieftain of the Ilana Mekunu movement, Akeem Salawu, has called on Nigerians to embrace the true spirit of Christmas by prioritising love, selfless service and collective responsibility to one another.

In his Christmas message to residents, Salawu described the season as a powerful reminder that leadership is not defined by authority or position, but by a sincere commitment to uplift lives, protect the vulnerable and create opportunities for those often left behind.

He said the Ilana Mekunu movement is built on the ideals of hope, courage and dignity for every citizen, stressing that meaningful leadership must be rooted in compassion, fairness and justice.
According to him, the Christmas season offers an opportunity for individuals and communities to renew their sense of empathy and strengthen their resolve to build a society where opportunity, equity and human dignity are accessible to all.

“As families come together and communities unite during this season, we must allow the message of Christmas to inspire us to keep working towards a society founded on fairness, justice and shared prosperity,” Salawu said.
He expressed optimism that the spirit of the season would bring peace to homes, strengthen hearts and rekindle a collective commitment to serving humanity with integrity and purpose.

Salawu, on behalf of the Ilana Mekunu movement, wished Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with unity, progress and new possibilities.
