Apero Mekunu Visits Kanisuru Oko-Oba Community to Educate Residents on Voters Right

In a bold step toward grassroots political education and civic awareness, the Apero Mekunu movement on Monday held an interactive session with residents of the Kanisuru Oko-Oba community. The event, which drew a large turnout of locals, focused on enlightening the masses about their democratic rights and the power of their votes.

Apero Mekunu, has been moving from community to community in recent weeks as part of a broader campaign to empower ordinary citizens, especially the underrepresented and economically disadvantaged, with knowledge about their electoral rights.

Speaking at the meeting, representatives from Apero Mekunu emphasized that citizens are not only entitled to vote but also have the power to demand meaningful representation. “Your vote is your voice,” one of the speakers said. “You have the right to choose someone who truly represents your interests, someone who sees you, hears you, and works for you.”
Residents engaged actively during the meeting, asking questions and sharing their frustrations with past electoral processes.

The session also included dramatizations and real-life testimonials to drive home the message of civic responsibility and voter empowerment.
Community leaders praised the initiative, saying, “This kind of grassroots enlightenment is what we need in our community. For too long, our people have felt powerless, but now they know they can ask questions, make demands, and vote for change.”
The Apero Mekunu team plans to continue their campaign in several other low-income and underserved communities in the coming weeks, aiming to build a more informed electorate ahead of the next election cycle.
