Apero Mekunu’ Storms Oluyole, Ona Ara with Grassroots Awareness Rally

Apero Mekunu, on Tuesday took their awareness campaign to Oluyole and Ona Ara Local Government Areas of Oyo State, engaging residents in a grassroots mobilisation drive aimed at deepening public participation in governance.

The rally, which marked the first phase of the outreach, witnessed widespread interaction across markets, motor parks, major junctions and other community centres, as organisers moved to sensitise residents on the objectives of the programme.

According to the team, the initiative is designed to provide citizens with a platform to air their views, promote civic consciousness and encourage active involvement in issues affecting their communities.

Residents responded positively to the outreach. Traders briefly paused their activities to listen to the campaign messages, while commercial motorcyclists engaged members of the team in discussions on governance and public accountability. Youths sought clarification on how the platform could help project their concerns, and community elders highlighted key issues they believe deserve attention, including the rising cost of living, infrastructure deficits and the need for transparent leadership.

Organisers noted that the rally was more than a publicity drive, describing it as a deliberate effort to take conversations on governance beyond the studio and into the streets.

They maintained that meaningful civic engagement is strengthened when citizens are directly involved and provided with accessible platforms to express their views on matters that affect their daily lives.
