The Agency for youth, Oyo State joins commonwealth to observe the International Youth day, particularly acknowledges the vital role that young people play as agents of change, leaders and mobilizer in promoting development.
In a statement released through the Head of Media Unit to the Chairman, Opeyemi Rasheed Socrates, to commemorate the occasion, Prince Adebowale described the youth as the “lifeblood of progress,” recognizing their role in shaping a more inclusive, innovative, and resilient future.
The theme for this year’s celebration resonates well with the mission of the pace setter state. Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, who has on several occasions be regarded as the father of youths, vowed to remain committed to giving young people opportunities and creating a large platform where young mind can thrive, lead and create sustainable impacts.

This year’s observance spotlights youth-led innovation, creativity, and social responsibility. The Governmemt, has several times invested In capacity building, entrepreneurship, digital literacy and civic engagement, this has in several ways impacted the state, especially the southwest.
To mark the day, the agency hosted a series of community dialogues, mentorship forums, and skills workshops across local government areas. These activities were designed not only to celebrate achievements but also to foster peer-to-peer learning and inspire civic action among youth.
“Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are leading today,” the Director-General added. “Our responsibility is to ensure they are equipped, supported, and heard.”
As Oyo State celebrates its youth, it also extends its message of solidarity to young changemakers across the globe, reinforcing the state’s identity as a pacesetter in promoting inclusive youth empowerment and development.
