ADC Governorship Aspirant Adegboyega Raises Alarm as Suspected Political Thugs Vandalise Billboards in Ibadan -They Are Scared Of My Popularity

An Ibadan chief and governorship aspirant under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, has raised concerns over the destruction of his campaign billboards in several parts of Ibadan.

Adegoke, who holds the traditional title of Aare Egbe-Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, made the allegation in a press statement issued on Monday evening. In the statement, he expressed shock over what he described as the deliberate vandalisation of billboards bearing his image, claiming the act was carried out by political thugs threatened by his rising popularity ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to the governorship hopeful, the affected billboards had originally been mounted across strategic locations in Oyo State since last year as part of a goodwill message to residents during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. However, the situation changed shortly after the billboards were redesigned to reflect his new political affiliation.
He explained that within 24 hours after the billboards were updated to display the logo and identity of the African Democratic Congress, they were reportedly damaged by individuals suspected to be acting on behalf of political interests opposed to his ambitions.

Adegoke alleged that those behind the destruction were motivated by fear of his growing acceptance among the people and his prospects in the February 2027 general elections. He insisted that the act was a desperate attempt to intimidate him and suppress his political visibility in the state.
The politician only recently switched political parties, having announced on Saturday, March 7, that he had left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the African Democratic Congress. A day after the announcement, the billboards were reportedly updated to reflect his new party platform and publicise his political move.

Adegoke maintained that despite the incident, he remains undeterred and committed to pursuing his political aspirations while continuing to engage with the people of Oyo State.
