Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has been declared winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, securing a fresh term after defeating his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke winner after the completion of the statutory collation of results at the state collation centre in Osogbo.
According to the final results announced by the electoral commission, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate secured 17,180 votes.
The incumbent maintained a strong lead through the collation of results from the 30 Local Government Areas of the state, recording notable victories in Ede North, Ede South, Osogbo, Ife East, Ife Central, Iwo, Egbedore and Odo-Otin, among others.
Oyebamiji, however, won in several local government areas as the election produced a keenly contested race between the two major contenders.
The election, which attracted widespread attention across the state, saw Adeleke seeking a second term in office, while Oyebamiji campaigned on the APC platform to unseat the incumbent.
Adeleke’s victory means he will continue as governor of Osun State for another term, with the outcome expected to further shape the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
