Investiture: ICAN Ibadan inaugurates Salome Ajayi as 26th Chairman

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ibadan and District Society, has inaugurated Salome Olabimpe Ajayi as its 26th Chairman.

In her acceptance speech at the investiture ceremony and inauguration of the 2026/2027 executive committee on Saturday at Jogor Centre, Liberty Road, Ibadan, Ajayi pledged to consolidate the achievements of the past leadership of the body.


She promised to run an open-door administration where the welfare of the members will be prioritised.
Salome Ajayi added that under her leadership, the Ibadan District and Society of ICAN will focus on 13 key areas, which include: education and training, finance and fundraising, membership affairs, district project, amongst others.



She said: “I cannot do this alone. I will need the wisdom of our revered past chairman, the Board of Patrons, and elders; the support and dedication of the executive members; and the energy of all our members, both old and young.
“The executive committee members and I will be the first among equals. Let’s work together as one family to take Ibadan and District Society to even greater heights.”
In her keynote address, the 62nd President of ICAN, Hajia Queensley Segoshime, appreciated the outgoing executive members and charged the new executives on membership drives, upholding the integrity of the profession, and contributing to the national economy.
Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Zacharia Buba Yaduma, the Director General/ CEO Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, in his address, lauded the previous administration while urging members to give their full support to the newly inaugurated executives.
Prof Yaduma noted that Ajayi’s wealth of knowledge and proven leadership will advance the society’s mandate at a time when Nigeria needs accountants who can drive transparency, accountability, and economic solutions.
In her valedictory speech, the immediate past chairman of ICAN, Ibadan and District Society, Funmi Omisore, highlighted the achievements of her leadership, especially as enunciated in the 7Cs of her administration.
“Looking back on our journey, I can confidently say our achievements exceeded expectations, and we give all the glory to God. Since unveiling the 7Cs agenda at my investiture on July 17, 2025, we have built on the legacies of our predecessors through continuous learning, youth development, collaboration, community support, mentorship, caring, and innovation.
“These initiatives have driven professional development, impactful community service, capacity building, and stronger professional relationships, made possible by the dedication and support of our members, leaders, government, communities, and partner organisations,” she said.
Among the personalities present are Deacon Titus Soetan, FCA, former President of ICAN. Current Council Member Mrs Olaitan Babatunde, Mr Adedeji Abiodun, Prince Dr. Oyebade Oyedepo FCA, former Council Member of ICAN, and many former District Chairmen like Deacon S.O Ayansina, Prince G. A Adebayo, Alh Ogunesan, and Alh Banji Ogunlade FCA.
The new Executives are Vice Chairman Oyeyemi Oluwafemi Oyetunji FCA, Deputy Vice Chairman Dr Sileola Akinbowale FCA, Immediate Past Chairman Olufunmilayo Omisore FCA, General Secretary Oluwafemi Popoola ACA, Treasurer Nasir Saheed Adeniyi FCA, Financial Secretary Wojuade Olasumbo FCA, Technical Secretary Olona Yisa FCA, Membership Secretary Akintunde Olabisi FCA, Social/ Welfare Secretary Oladokun Yusuf ACA, Asst Secretary Oladipupo Olanike FCA, Ex Officio 1 Adesina Taiwo FCA, Ex Officio 2 Idowu Akintunde ACA and SWAN Rep. Adedipe Atinuje FCA.
Also, at the Investiture are business guru, financial experts, and captains of industry.
