Ibadan South East APM pledges support for Makinde, backs Adekanmbi ahead of 2027

Leaders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibadan South East Local Government have reaffirmed their loyalty to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, while throwing their weight behind the party’s governorship candidate, Abimbola Adekanmbi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made at the apex leadership meeting of the party held on Saturday at the Ibadan South East Local Government Secretariat, Mapo, Ibadan, where party leaders and stakeholders reviewed the political situation in the state and resolved to consolidate support for the governor and the party’s governorship standard-bearer.

The leaders commended Governor Makinde for what they described as his transformational leadership, citing his administration’s infrastructure drive and developmental projects across Oyo State, particularly in Ibadan South East Local Government.

According to the stakeholders, the governor’s achievements have improved the quality of life of residents and positioned the state on a sustainable path of growth and development.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the party leaders unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to Governor Makinde and his administration.

“The governor has done well for us in Ibadan South East Local Government and across Oyo State. Through his visionary leadership, the state has witnessed unprecedented infrastructural development and the execution of legacy projects that will benefit generations to come.

“We have every reason to remain loyal to him and continue to support his administration because his programmes have positively impacted the lives of our people.

“All leaders and stakeholders of the APM in Ibadan South East Local Government are united in their support for Governor Makinde. We will also support his aspiration to become President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Political office holders, party leaders, members and critical stakeholders in the local government have all resolved to stand firmly with him because he remains our leader,” the communiqué read.

The stakeholders also unanimously endorsed Adekanmbi as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election, expressing confidence in his capacity to provide purposeful leadership for Oyo State.

They pledged to mobilise party members and voters across the local government to ensure the party records a resounding victory at the polls.

Among those present at the meeting were Hon. Dare Adeleke; Hon. Kunmi Adedina; the Oyo State Commissioner for Energy, Prof. Dahood Sangodoyin; the member representing Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East Federal Constituency, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin; Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige; Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Oluwole Alawode; and the Governor’s Special Adviser on Energy Security, Hon. Abiodun Adedoja (Ekolo).

Others included Alhaji (Hon.) Yusuf Ali Temitope (Supreme), Full-Time Commissioner, Oyo State Local Government Service Commission; Hon. Modiu Opeyemi Akande, representing Ibadan South East Constituency I; Hon. Yinka Omikunle, representing Ibadan South East Constituency II; Engr. Sulaiman Adesina (World Best), immediate past PDP Chairman in the local government; and the incumbent PDP Chairman in Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Olajide Oluwole.
