IDO LG DELEGATION ATTENDS GRAND FINALE OF WORLD EGUNGUN FESTIVAL IN IBADAN

A delegation from Ido Local Government, led by the Council Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, participated in the grand finale of the 2026 World Egungun Festival held at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, as part of efforts to promote cultural preservation and community engagement in Oyo State.

The colourful event drew participants from within and outside the state, featuring captivating Egungun performances, indigenous music, traditional dances, and a variety of local cuisine, all reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the state.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Adeojo commended Oyo State Governor, His Excellency Seyi Makinde, and the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, for their sustained commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s cultural legacy. He noted that the festival aligns with the administration’s vision of fostering unity, cultural pride, and community development.

The chairman also congratulated members of the Oje Parapo in Ido Local Government, as well as indigenes of the area, on the successful hosting of the 2026 edition of the festival. He encouraged continued participation in cultural events as a means of strengthening communal ties and projecting the heritage of Ido Local Government on a wider platform.

Reaffirming the council’s support for cultural initiatives, Hon. Adeojo urged residents, youths, and cultural groups to remain committed to preserving their traditions, emphasizing that such festivals play a vital role in promoting social cohesion and intergenerational connection.

The Ido delegation joined other dignitaries, traditional rulers, cultural groups, and visitors from across Nigeria and beyond to celebrate the festival’s grand finale.
