No Congratulatory Letter Issued- Hon. Bolu Adebayo Rejects Imposed PDP Consensus for Oluyole Federal Constituency

Hon. Bolu Adebayo has dismissed claims that he congratulated Hon. Akin Ajao and conceded the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for Oluyole Federal Constituency, describing the report as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on April 17, 2026, Adebayo clarified that the claim stemmed from a misrepresentation of a private meeting held at his residence on April 16, 2026. He acknowledged receiving Ajao, whom he described as a childhood friend, but firmly denied offering any form of endorsement or conceding his political ambition.

According to Adebayo, “at no time” during the visit did he congratulate Ajao or agree to step down, adding that any contrary narrative was intended to misinform party members and the public.

He further criticized the process that allegedly produced Ajao as the PDP candidate for the constituency, labeling it unconstitutional and undemocratic. Adebayo argued that no primary election was conducted and that there was no valid consensus among aspirants, noting that none of the six contenders agreed to withdraw in favor of another.

He maintained that any consensus lacking the consent of all aspirants violates both the PDP constitution and the Electoral Act 2022.

Reaffirming his stance, Adebayo said he could not support what he described as an imposition, stressing his commitment to due process and internal party democracy. He urged party members and the public to disregard what he termed “misleading narratives” suggesting his endorsement of the outcome.

Adebayo reiterated his loyalty to the PDP and his determination to advocate for a transparent and credible candidate selection process in the Oluyole Federal Constituency.
