Apero Mekunu Atiba/Afijio/Oyo East & West Holds First Executive Council Meeting of 2026

The Apero Mekunu movement in Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East and Oyo West Local Government Areas has formally ushered in activities for 2026 with the successful convening of its first Executive Council (Exco) meeting of the year, signalling a renewed drive towards grassroots mobilisation, civic consciousness and people-oriented leadership.

The meeting, which attracted key stakeholders including local coordinators, youth leaders and community organisers from across the four local governments, provided a platform to review the movement’s progress to date and articulate a clear, strategic roadmap for the year ahead. Deliberations centred on consolidating ward-level structures, broadening community outreach, and strengthening political awareness, particularly among youths and grassroots residents.

Exco members took time to reflect on lessons learned from previous mobilisation and engagement efforts, identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. In aligning on a shared vision for 2026, participants emphasised the need for discipline, unity of purpose, effective communication and a sustained, visible presence within communities to ensure the movement remains connected to the people it seeks to serve.
Beyond policy direction and planning, the meeting served as a moment of recommitment to the core philosophy of Apero Mekunu—that meaningful and lasting change must originate from the grassroots. Members reaffirmed their obligation to remain accessible, responsive and accountable to the people, prioritising active listening and translating advocacy into concrete, community-focused action.

With growing momentum across Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East and Oyo West, the inaugural Exco meeting of 2026 stands as a clear statement of intent: Apero Mekunu is organised, deliberate and poised to deepen its impact, as it continues to build a strong, people-driven movement rooted in service and collective responsibility.
