Unity in Prayer, Promises in Action: Adeojo Hosts Historic New Year Interfaith Session for Ido LG Staff

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has won widespread admiration from council staff after hosting a historic New Year interfaith prayer session that brought together Muslims, Christians and traditional worshippers under one roof.

Held at the Local Government Multi-purpose Hall, the gathering drew over 200 staff members who knelt side by side in prayers for peace, progress and prosperity in Ido Local Government and Omi-Apata LCDA. The rare display of unity across faiths created an atmosphere of harmony, drawing spontaneous applause as the session came to a close.

Many staff members described the event as a landmark moment in Hon. Adeojo’s administration. Speaking on behalf of workers, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Kamil Raji, said the council boss had “written his name in gold” in the history of Ido Local Government.

“This is the first time staff have been gathered in uniform for a New Year interfaith prayer. We thank you for being a listening leader and for your prompt response to our welfare needs. No previous chairman has united us this way,” Raji said.

In his remarks, Hon. Adeojo expressed appreciation to staff of Ido Local Government and Omi-Apata LCDA, describing their commitment as the driving force behind the council’s achievements.

“Your unwavering support has been the backbone of our successes so far. From infrastructural projects to community outreach, we have achieved so much together, and this is just the beginning,” he stated.

The chairman also announced the immediate payment of the 2018 leave bonus arrears to staff before the end of the month, a declaration that was met with loud cheers. In addition, he approved the release of ₦500,000 as transport support, which was equitably shared among staff present to ease their daily commute.

The event also featured an enlightening lecture on staff regulations delivered by the Director of Administration and General Services, Mrs. Titi Adesina, who emphasised compliance, ethics and career growth within the public service. This was complemented by a health talk by the Primary Health Care Coordinator, Mr. Oluseyi Oladosu, who offered practical guidance on wellness, stress management and preventive healthcare, urging staff to embrace regular medical check-ups and avoid unprescribed drugs.

As participants dispersed, smiles and renewed optimism filled the hall. For staff of Ido Local Government and Omi-Apata LCDA, the interfaith prayer was more than a New Year gathering—it was a reassurance of purposeful leadership anchored on unity, empathy and decisive action.

Dignitaries at the event included Hon. Oyepeju Kazeem Olawale, Deputy Leader of the Legislative Chamber; other honourable members of the council legislature; Chief Musibau Emiola, PDP Chairman in Ido LG; Alhaji Kamorudeen Gbadamosi, Local Government Secretary; Alhaji Sarafadeen Aminu, Head of Local Government Administration; Alhaja Kudirat Najimudeen, Acting HLGA; directors of the council; Comrade Risqat Atere Ojoye, Oyo State Young Workers’ Representative; and Comrade Kamil Raji, NULGE Chairman, among others.
