Youths across Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State have commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, for fostering unity and friendship among young people through his sponsorship of the “Ido Le Tente Football Competition.”

The tournament, which featured players from the ten wards of the local government, concluded on Sunday evening with a thrilling final match between Ward 9 and Ward 10 at the Ido High School Field.

Participants and spectators described the event as “the first of its kind” in the history of grassroots football development in Ido, noting that it has reignited community spirit and engagement among local youths.
The opening half of the final match was kicked off at 4:45 p.m. by the Oyo State PDP Auditor, Alhaji Ayuba Akinsola, and ended goalless after 30 minutes of intense play. The second half commenced at 5:30 p.m. with Hon. Adeojo performing the ceremonial kick-off, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.

Following a dramatic 13–13 penalty shootout, both teams were declared joint winners, in the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.
While presenting cash gifts and gold medals to the winners, Hon. Adeojo commended all participating teams for their discipline, teamwork, and exemplary conduct throughout the tournament.

“I am proud of the spirit of family love you have all demonstrated. Let us continue to live together as one big family,” he said.
“Most especially, my PDP family — let us remain united and show genuine love to one another, because there is no place like home.”
