The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives, and Investment, has launched a major skills acquisition program to empower over 1,500 youths and promote self-reliance across the state.

The comprehensive, three-day training session will equip participants with in-demand, hands-on technical skills, including:

• Installation of CCTV and Security Fencing Systems
• Automated Doors and Smart Locks

• Solar Panel Installation
• Other key vocational areas critical to the modern economy.
The training is scheduled to hold at the Adamasingba Sports Complex in Ibadan from Tuesday, November 4th to Thursday, November 6th, 2025.
The initiative is part of the state’s participation in the annual Nigerian Artisans and Technicians Conference (NATO), an event organized by the Federal Government.
Government Commits to Youth Empowerment
Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana, the head of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, hailed the program as a “life-changing opportunity.” He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his administration’s consistent focus on youth capacity building and entrepreneurship.
Similarly, Hon. Adeniyi Olabode Adebisi, the Honourable Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Co-operative, emphasized that the collaboration directly addresses unemployment and aims to foster economic growth.
“By providing the necessary technical and business skills, we are helping to build a new generation of entrepreneurs who will not only earn a living but also create jobs for others,” she noted.
This program is central to Governor Makinde’s broader youth development agenda, aiming to cultivate a skilled, economically independent generation that will curb unemployment and boost overall economic activities in Oyo State.
